Staff Accountant

MacKenzie Management Co., located at I83 and 695, is looking for a property accountant/analyst for portfolio of commercial properties. Candidates will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting for their portfolio. There will be exposure to various types of accounting including GAAP, Tax, Accrual, Cash, Development, and Investor accounting. The ideal candidate will have the ability to handle multiple projects, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a strong work ethic. This position reports to multiple Portfolio Controllers and is one of the key roles within our property management team, interfacing with senior management and third-party clients.


  • Handle the daily accounting function that eventually produces the monthly financial statements for your assigned properties. Duties include:
  • Financial analysis of the general ledger and financial statements
  • Preparing necessary journal entries
  • Cash management for each property including a critical review and approval of payable invoices and the weekly check run process
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Collaborating with assigned team to provide the best service to clients, tenants, and vendors
  • Lender reporting
  • Budget preparation as well as review of budgets prepared by other staff accountants
  • Prepare and review year end packages for external audit and tax accountants
  • Assist with on-boarding new properties / clients
  • Job will include special projects and other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Real estate or property management experience is a plus.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel. Outlook, etc.) required.
  • Experience with Yardi Voyager is preferred
  • Experience with Sage Depreciation software a plus but not required
  • Ability to adapt to new or changing software programs
