A Baltimore City native, Marty attended Catonsville Community College where he earned his Associate of Arts Degree in Construction Management. He then pursued higher education at Johns Hopkins University, specializing in Civil Engineering. In 2001, Marty assumed the role of President and COO at MacKenzie Contracting Company, where his extensive responsibilities encompass the day-to-day operations and overall management of the company. These encompass project management procedures, contract administration, estimating review and control, staffing assignments, business development, and financial management.
During his tenure, he has witnessed the company’s remarkable growth from a team of 7 to over 30 employees and revenues exceeding 40 million dollars. Marty has built an experienced team to help manage the various disciplines such as operations, accounting, office procedures, business development, sales and marketing required to run a successful General Contracting and Construction Management Company.
With a career spanning more than 45 years, Marty has honed his construction expertise across the industry’s diverse facets. Prior to MacKenzie, he spent 11 years with Whiting-Turner and an additional 12 years as Vice President at two Baltimore-based general contracting firms. His extensive experience in both the private and public sectors has equipped him to handle complex projects utilizing fast-track and design-build construction methods.
Marty’s vast experience, combined with the support of a dedicated team, has proven to be a valuable asset to the company’s project portfolio. His collaborative approach with owners and developers, involving design, procurement, value engineering, and construction, consistently leads to on-time and on-budget project deliveries, all while upholding the highest standards of quality workmanship.
Marty’s hands-on and transparent approach has been instrumental in the company’s growth and in fostering enduring relationships in the region.
