Melico Salon Opens First Brick-And-Mortar Storefront at 9. W. Ridgely Road in Lutherville
MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services represented the tenant and the landlord, MacKenzie Management Company provides asset management services, and MacKenzie Contracting Company completed the buildout
After previously renting a salon loft in the Towson area, Melico Salon has opened its first brick-and-mortar location within 9 W. Ridgely Road in the Lutherville-Timonium section of Baltimore County. Melissa Burgess, the owner of the women’s hair styling and treatment concept signed a lease with Ridgely Plaza LP, LLLP for 1,150 square feet of space at the nearly 6,500 square foot retail center. Mike Ruocco, Senior Vice President and Principal and Patrick J. Smith, Real Estate Advisor of MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services represented the tenant, and John Harrington, Senior Vice President and Principal and Tim Harrington, Vice President of the company represented the landlord. MacKenzie Management Company provides asset management services for the center and MacKenzie Contracting Company completed the tenant build-out.
Melico Salon provides a full spectrum of hair services including haircuts and styling, hair color and treatments, and hair extensions, provided by a six-person artist team. The studio, which occupies a space that formerly housed a hair salon, is open Tuesday through Saturday.
9 W. Ridgely Road is shadow-anchored by Kohl’s, MOM’s Organic Market and the Mercy Medical Physicians Pavilion, and more than 33,000 vehicles pass the site daily from its position at the intersection of York and Ridgely roads. Starbucks Coffee and restaurant honeygrow also recently opened directly across the street. Nearly 190,000 people reside within a five-mile radius of the center, including more than 220,000 households with an average household income approaching $150,000. The center features on-site and free parking for 25 vehicles.
“Melico Salon has generated a strong and loyal customer following, and this new space in a high-profile retail center, offers improved convenience to its clientele while also providing the opportunity to expand and attract additional patrons,” explained MacKenzie’s Patrick J. Smith. “This is a big step and important step for the ownership, but we are certain the investment will pay immediate and long-term dividends. The build-out of Melico Salon, which occupies the space of a former hair concept, represents a much-needed revitalization of that section of the center.”
Smith says that this transaction demonstrates “MacKenzie’s full-service and one-stop approach to the commercial real estate process,” adding “our fully-integrated approach reduces mistakes, improves efficiency and saves resources when all the professionals involved in the different phases work under the same roof and communicate frequently.”
