Full-service general contracting company also receives top honors in annual ABC Greater Baltimore awards program for Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. Maryland Region Office

MacKenzie Contracting Company has captured the Diamond Excellence in Construction Award from the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for its full renovation and expansion of the King KIA dealership in Laurel, Maryland. The recognition is part of the 2025 ABC Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards Program which are held annually to honor outstanding construction projects completed across the Maryland Region. MacKenzie Contracting also received a Diamond Excellence award for the interior fit-out for the new Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. Maryland Region office in Columbia.

MacKenzie Contracting transformed a decades-old facility, located at 14921 Baltimore Avenue, into a modern, high-performing automotive retail space encompassing just over 32,000 square feet of space. The scope, designed by Flanagan Architects, entailed a 24-week construction operation highlighted by the addition of a 1,500-square-foot delivery canopy; a full showroom refresh outfitted with porcelain tile, LED lighting, and branded millwork; and the completion of a new customer lounge and reconfigured parts department.

In addition, MacKenzie Contracting constructed a new climate-controlled drive-through element and completed significant mechanical and electrical system upgrades, roof work, and a full exterior reskin in coordination with Kia’s national installer.

Diamond represents the highest level of recognition in the ABC program, signifying that the judges awarded a perfect score in the competition which rates customer service and project delivery. The judges are comprised of a team of local impartial architects and engineers.

.           “Despite the challenges of working with an aging infrastructure, our team delivered a seamless transformation that elevates the dealership’s customer experience and positions King KIA for long-term success,” explained Marty Copsey, President/COO of MacKenzie Contracting Company. “Leveraging our deep experience in the automotive and retail categories, we concluded this multi-faceted project on-time and on-budget, while executing a safety program that protected customers and employees during the construction period.”
