Full-service general contracting company also receives top honors in annual ABC Greater Baltimore awards program for renovation and expansion of King KIA dealership in Laurel

MacKenzie Contracting Company has captured the Diamond Excellence in Construction Award from the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for the interior fit-out of the new Howard Hughes Holdings, Inc. Maryland Region office, a 13,500 square foot space located in the heart of Merriweather District in Columbia, Maryland. The recognition is part of the 2025 ABC Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards Program which are held annually to honor outstanding construction projects completed across the Maryland Region. MacKenzie Contracting also received a Diamond Excellence award for the renovation and expansion of the King KIA dealership in Laurel.

Executing a plan designed by BCT Design Group, MacKenzie Contracting delivered a workplace that balances private offices, open works areas, and huddle rooms to support collaboration and efficiency. Drawing inspiration from Merriweather District’s identity as the “city in a garden,” the space located at 10490 Little Patuxent Parkway incorporated natural elements and greenery, fostering an inviting and productive environment for employees.

Diamond represents the highest level of recognition in the ABC program, signifying that the judges awarded a perfect score in the competition which rates customer service and project delivery. The judges are comprised of a team of local impartial architects and engineers.

“Our team successfully delivered a modern and thoughtfully-designed workplace that addressed the specific real estate requirements of Howard Hughes,” stated Marty Copsey, President/COO of MacKenzie Contracting Company. “Construction projects are most successful when the finished product appeals to diverse stakeholders and elevates the performance of its user groups, and we believe this effort achieved every touchpoint and provides a long-term real estate solution.”
