Cambridge Waterfront Development Engages MCRES as Exclusive Brokerage Firm to Advance Cambridge Harbor

Cambridge Waterfront Development, Inc. (CWDI) has entered into an agreement with MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services, LLC to support the next phase of implementation for the Cambridge Harbor redevelopment project, a transformative mixed-use initiative situated along the city’s waterfront area.

MacKenzie has been tapped to serve as the exclusive brokerage firm for the marketing and sale of development parcels within the approximately 29-acre Cambridge Harbor site. The firm will lead efforts to prepare marketing materials, conduct outreach to regional and national development companies, and help identify qualified development partners.

Scott Wimbrow, Tom Fidler, Michael Ruocco, Morgan Wimbrow, and Patrick J. Smith are handling the assignment on behalf of MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services.

MacKenzie will aggressively seek to identify and attract end-users, including restaurants, general services, and boutiques, to lease space within retail components that are planned within the Cambridge Harbor project. “This is truly a unique opportunity to generate a retail merchandising plan that encompasses the needs of the local community and the growing transient population that sees the positive growth of the Cambridge community,” said Mike Ruocco, Senior Vice President at MacKenzie. “Creating a sense of ‘place’ for the future success and long-term stability of Cambridge Harbor is our priority and commitment to all stakeholders.”

Cambridge Harbor is envisioned as a vibrant, mixed-use waterfront district featuring residential, retail, hospitality, maritime, and public access components. Development will occur in phases and will be guided by CWDI’s adopted master plan and design standards to ensure consistency with the community’s long-term vision.

MacKenzie brings extensive experience with mixed-use and waterfront-market developments across Maryland including Annapolis Town Center, The Village at Cross Keys in Baltimore, and Maple Lawn in Fulton. Their work also includes Waterside Village in Easton, reflecting their experience in thoughtfully-planned development within a broader waterfront market.

“This marks an important step forward for Cambridge Harbor as we move from planning into implementation,” said Angie Hengst, CWDI President. “We are excited to partner with MacKenzie to bring the right development teams to the table and ensure this project reflects the community’s vision.”

“The development of Cambridge Habor represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reimagine the last major waterfront site in the City of Cambridge, and deliver a best-in-class walkable, mixed-use destination,” stated Scott Wimbrow, President & Principal, MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services. “MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services intends to passionately work side-by-side with Cambridge Waterfront Development to attract user groups which bring value to the project and satisfy the vision of the development group and the local community.”

With this agreement in place, the project now enters an active developer outreach phase, positioning Cambridge Harbor for continued progress toward redevelopment.
